In the first reading we see Paul preach a powerful sermon to the men in Athens. All the men there heard the sermon with great interest until Paul spoke about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Acts 17:32) The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is really the key doctrine of Christianity. Paul said: If Christ is not risen, your faith is futile (1 Corinthians 15:17-18)
It is also important to note that the the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ cannot be understood with the natural mind. The Bible says: The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:14) In Gospel reading we see how God has ordained spiritual truth to be revealed to men. We read: When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth. (John 16:13)
It is the Holy Spirit that gives Revelation to man. (1 Corinthians 2:11-13) It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit will make the death of Jesus Christ real to you today. Receive the Holy Spirit in the Name of Jesus. When you do, you too like Peter on the day of Pentecost will understand the things of God and speak boldly about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ to others. (Acts 2:1-39)
